Important New Drought Info - October 08, 2014

The Brazos River Basin, from where all of our drinking water originates, remains under drought conditions.  While we have had a very rainy summer and fall here locally, the Brazos reservoir water levels continue to be below  normal and have yet to receive much needed rainfall.   You may look at the Drought Map of the Brazos River here at http://www.brazos.org/DroughtStatus.asp .

As of Monday, Sept. 2014, The Water Company enacted Stage II of our own Drought Contingency Plan and we now continue to ask that you reduce your overall water usage.  Further, we ask that if you must water outdoors, please do so only between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM.  If water levels in the Brazos River and its reservoirs do not improve, we will be forced to implement further water use restrictions in our own plan.  Here at the Water Company, we will if needed, also reduce the amount of water we take from the Gulf Coast Water Authority by using our own water wells.  Please do everything that you can to reduce your water consumption to insure a stable supply of water for all the citizens of Dickinson and of the County as a whole.   We will keep you informed about the status of our water supply in the Brazos River as conditions change.  Rainfall in the Brazos River Watershed is still so very much needed.

Our Next Regular Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2015 at a new regular meeting time of 4:00 pm in the Council Chambers in Dickinson City Hall.

If you have any questions or if we may provide further information, please call Galveston County WCID #1, Monday - Thursday, between the hours of  7:30 AM - 5:30 PM and Friday, 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM, at 281-337-1576.  To report emergencies after hours, and on weekends, please call the same number and talk to the after-hours operator.

Respectfully,

David A Paulissen, General Manager
