As you have all likely heard or read, there have been several reports, from surrounding cities, of criminals pretending to be public employees to gain access to your home. Our field staff from The Water Company will always have their Employee ID and a uniform shirt with The Water Company logo on it. If you have any concerns about a person coming onto your property or asking to come into your home always ask for identification or if you are still concerned call the Dickinson Police Department. We read your water meter each month but our Meter Technicians will only go to the meter box or if a leak is found, come to your front door to let you know of the issue. Again our employees are uniformed and will have a WCID #1 Employee Identification on them for you security.
The Texas Drought - November 4, 2011
Dickinson, TX I want to continue to keep everyone informed about what is going on with our drinking water supply. As you may know, we are now in the middle of what is called a drought of record here in Texas. Nearly all counties in Texas are well below their annual rainfall amounts. Since about 2009 the Brazos River Watershed has had below normal rainfall. This lack of rain has been even more dramatic over the last year or so. Because of this, the Gulf Coast Water Authority (GCWA) from whom we buy your drinking water has been using water from all of the reservoirs on the Brazos River since April of 2011. The reservoirs are used to supply river water to their water treatment plant in Texas City. So far, we have not had to cut-back on the amount of water that you as consumers use. I am proud that you have all helped with water conservation but we must keep up the hard work. At this time the Brazos River Authority and the GCWA are telling us that we will almost certainly see a reduction in the amount of water they can supply us beginning in January of 2012. We may see a reduction in the amount of water we receive from them by as much as 33%. As I have said before, we will use our wells to replace some of the water we will not be getting from them. I tell you all of this to let you know that the District will almost certainly begin some form of mandatory water rationing beginning some time in January 2012. Please be prepared to really begin to conserve water however you can. There are some great tips here on our website under the Water Conservation Tab. It will take us all working together to save and conserve to get through this very serious drought.
Our complete Drought Contingency Plan may be found by clicking the Drought Plan tab at the top of this page.
There is a list, under the conservation tab at the top of this page to help you in your voluntary conservation efforts.
