The Texas Drought - April 02, 2012
Dickinson, TX Well, there is finally some good news with regard to the drought. According to the Brazos River Authority (BRA) most of the reservoirs in the Brazos River Watershed at full or nearly full. What does that mean to us? Well it means that for now we are no longer under drought conditions. We will not be buying additional water to get through the summer. Both the BRA and the Gulf Coast Water Authority from whom we buy our drinking water have made the call that they likely can meet our needs this summer. This does not mean that you should not continue to conserve water. Each year in April we ask that you remain on Stage 1 of our Conservation Plan. That is, voluntary measures that encourage you to conserve water in you everyday life. You can review the Stage 1 guidelines by clicking on the Drought Plan tab at the top of the page. Water is vital to each of us and conservation allows us do what they can to protect this important and precious resource. Keep up the good work. There is a list, under the conservation tab at the top of this page, to help you in your voluntary conservation efforts. Thank you for your hard work through the drought of 2011!
